Maternity Bundle

India has over 25 million births annually.
Most mothers suffering mentally go undetected.

For decades, we celebrated the arrival of new life but ignored the silent crisis unfolding in mothers’ minds.

Prof. pallab maulik, Director of Research at The George Institute for Global Health India, reveals the shocking reality:

“Large numbers of women with undiagnosed and untreated perinatal depression and psychosis affect not only the mother but also the baby’s health and the family’s wellbeing.”

👉 The numbers are devastating: 14-24% of perinatal women in India experience depression. Some studies report 22% for postpartum depression alone.

In Kerala, maternal suicide accounted for nearly one in five maternal deaths in 2020.

While maternal mortality has reduced by 50% since the early 2000s to 97 deaths per 100,000, maternal suicide now constitutes an increasing proportion of maternal deaths.

👉 Behind these statistics are women carrying invisible burdens: deep-rooted male child preference, rigid social norms denying them autonomy, repeated pregnancies, domestic violence, and crushing stigma, especially when giving birth to a girl or a child with a disability.

Dr. Nicole Votruba from University of Oxford explains: “Social determinants such as child sex preference, domestic violence, and poverty have a profound impact on maternal mental health. We must address these underlying social challenges.”

The disparity worsens with stigma, lack of mental health services, and growing socio-economic inequalities, particularly in rural India.

Dr. Y.K. Sandhya from The George Institute emphasizes: “Perinatal mental health should not be standalone – it must be included within routine antenatal and postnatal care to make it sustainable and reduce stigma.”

👉 But here’s what’s rarely discussed: the physical and environmental stressors amplifying maternal mental health struggles.

Modern mothers are constantly connected – working from home during pregnancy, exposed to EMF from laptops and phones, managing stress digitally with no real respite.

While India urgently needs integrated perinatal mental health programs and screening mechanisms, mothers today need immediate protection from additional environmental stressors.

At SPRYEN Solutions, we created the Maternity Bundle to address what healthcare systems overlook: our EMR-reducing Pregnancy Band provides 99% radiation shielding for developing babies, Low-EMR Earphones ensure safer connectivity during calls, and the Grounding Mat offers calming support to help mothers’ bodies recover from digital and emotional stress.

Motherhood is already overwhelming.
Environmental and digital stressors shouldn’t add to that burden.

Your mental and physical wellness during pregnancy deserves more than just acknowledgment; it deserves action.
